Microsoft Windows 2003 Terminal Services lets small and mid-sized businesses simplify their network administration, and quickly and inexpensively set up home offices for their employees. With the Remote Desktop Protocol optimizing access to centrally published applications, there remains only one weakness: Printing.

Printing is still a central element of today’s office activities. However printing in Terminal Services architectures – regardless of whether network printers or desktop printers are used – means printing from server to client across a network connection. Adding to complexity is the need for all printer drivers, including those for home users, to be installed centrally. This creates many issues:

Servers free of printer drivers

ThinPrint’s patented DRIVER FREE PRINTING technology means only client-side printer driver installation is necessary. ThinPrint divides the Windows print process between server and client so that the printer-specific processing takes place only on the client. The choice of paper formats, specific paper tray targeting, and duplex printing make the .print RDP Engine a flexible solution for any environment. Maximal compression

The DRIVER FREE PRINTING technology is complemented by the new Advanced Adaptive Compression feature. This analyzes the individual components of a document before transmission and compresses each with a respective algorithm, reducing the print data volume up to 98 %. Because of ThinPrint’s intelligent compression method, the loss of quality seen, for example, with .jpg document printouts is not noticed with DRIVER FREE PRINTING.

No administration

With DRIVER FREE PRINTING and a ThinPrint product focused on Microsoft Terminal Services, printing administration is eliminated. The software installs on the server in seconds, adapts itself non-invasively to any environment, and is immediately available for use with any network, desktop or home workstation printer, even on a USB interface.
